Privacy Policy for Drive View

Drive View is an open-source Obsidian plugin developed by Alex Sherman. This privacy policy explains how user information is handled when using the plugin.

1. Data Access & Storage

  • Google Drive Files: Drive View requests access to your Google Drive exclusively to read, write, and synchronize your vault notes and folders as requested by you within the Obsidian application.
  • Local Device Storage: All accessed files, metadata, and authentication tokens are cached and stored locally on your device (using IndexedDB and Obsidian's internal cache).
  • No Third-Party Transmission: Drive View has no external backend server. Your Google Drive files, notes, and credentials are never sent to, collected by, or stored on any third-party server or database. Network communication occurs exclusively between your device and Google's official APIs (googleapis.com).

2. Google API Services User Data Policy & Limited Use Disclosure

Drive View's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements:

  • Google user data is not used for serving advertisements.
  • Google user data is not used for training general artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
  • Google user data is not transferred or sold to third parties.
